Beating COVID-19 with outdoor fitness

Together we are beating COVID-19 with outdoor fitness.

As of 1st June we shall be offering small group Nordic WALX, keeping 2 metres apart.

Our venues are at locations where there is plenty of space to walk and other users are respectful of the Stay Alert and Stay Apart requests.

We are also creating sessions for either early morning, mid morning and early evening so you can attend a WALX to give choice of energy type including Gentle Paces, fit in with your social and work diary, avoid the heat of the day and avoid busy times. This is the new normal and we are embracing the positive aspects of keeping everyone safe, mentally healthy and actively fitter.

We are adhering to strict Covid-19 social distancing protocol. Please use your own poles and equipment. Please do not book on for for a WALX if you think you may have symptoms, or do have symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has symptoms.

It is essential to register and book in advance online.

Putting our WALX on come with a few challenges as we will not be able to put on the amount of walks to satisfy all of our members and we would ask that you just book one walk a week. Please also check that you have had a confirmation email to make sure you are actually on the walk and not on a waiting list.

It is also imperative that you do not cancel last minute as it will stop others getting on the walk.

All participants must  update their PARQ.We strongly advise all members to use the Contact Tracing App once it is available.

We welcome all over 70s providing they are not on the Vulnerable List.

We are unable to welcome anyone on the Vulnerable or Extremely Vulnerable list for the time being.

We ask that all members to carry a face covering and have them ready to use on all walks. You can buy these from either NWUK or Keely Hammond with proceeds going to charity (she is Janine’s sister).

We will not be loaning any equipment to minimise transmission risk.

Whilst we are following Government guidelines for Covid-19 it is essential that we do take our daily exercise so why not ensure you grab your poles and get out to Nordic Walk!
