Weekly newsletter 122 – what is a MADwalx?

Last week it was an Indian Summer, this week it’s Ear Freeze time!

Brr! Where are the woolly hats? Certainly needed one this morning with the fresh winds! It was quite invigorating though! Just have to remember to wrap up and layer up!

So revised measures came into force this week to help reduce the R number. We are doing our bit too and ensuring we stay 2 poles apart and have reduced the group sizes. Some of the early morning and late-night walks can accommodate at least 8 as the paths are not so busy and the darkness encourages more people to stay under the duvets.

We will not be arranging to visit pubs or cafes; you may do so by personal arrangement.

Have you downloaded the new NHS Contact and Trace app? Please do – just check in your phone’s app store.

Three go MAD for the Veterans Charity!
What are we up to?

26th-30th May 2021

The Forces March has rapidly become a benchmark endurance event in the UK. Janine completed this in 2012 and won the Sarah Bryant trophy for most outstanding female. She did it in a ducksuit during a heatwave and managed to break the super tough RAF Rocks (shown below).

The event attracts many military teams and runners of all abilities as well as people who want to challenge themselves and be a part of something special.

Many participants find the march a very daunting challenge and most wish they had trained more for hills. However, EVERY participant looks back at the march with great fondness and memories of an incredible adventure. We are very proud of the fact that participants return year after year having enjoyed the event so much.

You can learn more about the route here.

This time Janine is taking some fellow MAD nordic walkers, Sally and Martin. Why MAD? Because we want to Make A Difference!

You can help us with a donation. Help make a difference to someone who kept you safe, who no longer has the essentials to be warm, or dry, or fed.
